About me

Hi! My name is Laura DiSimone, a NYC based actress, born and raised in Nyack, New York. I'm a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and have been performing since I was 10. As a classically trained legit soprano, I have developed a passion for singing, acting, and dancing. My old soul draws me to the golden age musicals such as, Carousel, She Loves Me and My Fair Lady.

My love for theater grew from my early love of singing. I sang my whole life, from the concerts on the deck for my Grandparents to state-wide competitions and eventually, theater productions. I have a background in classical voice training and evolved my sound into a more musical theater style.

My first show was a children's theater production of Catsbizarre, I know- but nonetheless, I was captured. Something about rolling around on a stage as a cat was just the perfect escape from my middle school life. Theater then became a coping mechanism for me and the best way to express myself as I began navigating my own path. I soon enrolled in dance and acting classes knowing I had some work to do. I put in the work and in high school, I was selected to be the dance captain 3 years in a row. After that, I have always found myself in a leadership position.

I've performed in over 25 shows but in addition to my extensive performance experience, I have also found great passion in all aspects of the theater. I have enjoyed building sets, being production assistant, assistant director, choreographer, and even director- as well as many other roles behind the stage. I have taught at a children's theater for 5 years, starting as an intern and working my way up to director through my dedication and hard work. I love teaching children and find such gratification in going back to the place where my love for theater began and helping to spark that passion for other kids.

In addition to my love for performing, I'm also a photographer. I took photography for 4 years in high school, developing and printing my own 35mm film. My grandmother taught me to crochet when I was young and I recently took it back up. Most of all, I love spending time with my family. We're so close and a crazy bunch with a wild sense of humor. They have been so supportive of me always and I'm so grateful for them.
